Deepa Natarajan obtained her postgraduate degree in Pharmacy from the Madras Medical College and PhD in Pharmacy from The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Guindy, Chennai. She also has to her credit a Diploma in Homeopathic Medical Sciences from Madras Presidency Homeopathic Association in Chennai, MD in alternative systems of medicine from Indian Board of Alternative Medicine in Calcutta. Additionally she has a postgraduate diploma in pharmaceutical selling from London College of Management.
                She is GATE qualified with 93.7 percentile and also ranked topper in college/university throughout her academic career. She started her research career on screening of anti-cancer potential with complete focus only on Siddha herbs over the past 15+ years, which succeeded in discovery of a few herbs with potential anticancer properties.
               She has to her credit several national (21) and international (8) scientific publications, and lately, a Patent Cooperation Treaty - World Intellectual Property (PCT - WIPO) patent publication with global protection of her invention. The national phase of two patents in India for anticancer extracts has been filed. Further national phase patent applied for in USA, EU and other countries of interest.
             Her focus of research in pipeline is to bridge the gap between the pre-clinical and clinical trials of Siddha formulations under practice, which currently have no scientific backup. Another objective is to seek intellectual property protection for such tested herbs with anti-cancer potential and their commercialization leading to industrial applicability in treatment and management of cancer.
